Parenting Education and Skills Training

Parenting Education and Skills Training

Whether you are a new parent, the parent of a teenager or a caregiver, these services will be beneficial in providing you with the tools to enhance your parenting abilities. There are many struggles that people face with parenting and understanding how to navigate those is important to building healthy family relationships and in helping to raise our children in healthy environments that help them to thrive.

Parenting Education and skills training helps to address concerns that you have about parenting, address barriers to parenting and can help to relieve stress around parenting.

To provide this service, we utilize an evidence-based Parenting program called Nurturing Parenting (NPP) to provide parenting education. As parents process through their own identified barriers, they become more receptive to parenting skills. This specific service is offered as a stand-alone, however, it may be recommended alongside family, child or adolescent counseling. Based on the findings in the initial family assessment, recommendations will be made to incorporate this service within the individuals’ family plan. NPP may be rendered in an individual and group format. It is a family centered, trauma-informed model used to build parenting skills and complements other services offered. Caregivers are provided an assessment to determine specific skill deficits and an individualized plan is developed from the results of the assessment. The duration is typically 15-24 sessions (Actual duration is based on the assessment rendered.)
