Dionne Patterson-Smith
LPC, CPCS
As an individual and family counselor, my focus is on helping you to learn who you are through the counseling process. Through treatment we will work to remove guilt, shame, and self doubt based on past trauma and abuse. I utilize a myriad of esteem building activities, self affirming exercises and other strategies in order to build upon coping skills that serve to help you in filling your toolbox of self worth and care. I believe in coordinating with other entities involved (school, psychiatrist, other family members) to ensure you are meeting needs in all areas of your life. My goal is for you to be able to see yourself as you truly are. My hope as a counselor is to assist you in beginning to accept, love, and like the person you see in the mirror.
My passion has been working with individuals and families who have challenges with anxiety, depression, oppositional defiant behaviors, self harm/suicidal ideation, relationship issues, grief/loss, divorce, addiction, underlying codependent behaviors, anger issues, or just a general inability to cope with life’s changes. Together we will work on shifting your mindset or ineffective thinking patterns to a more positive outlook and sense of self.
My experiences include working with Men, Women, Teens and Children. My training includes Trauma informed Care and Practices, DBT, and Positive Parenting approaches.
